In this class, students will learn advanced concepts of music and rhythm, as well as preparing them for high school level repertoire. Students in this class have the opportunity to become “Band Aids” and help out the high school Marching Band. Students in this class are also welcome to participate in high school marching band.
Explore Percussion (7th Hour)
Explore class is a semester long and allows students the opportunity to take beginning percussion. Percussion students will learn how to read notes and rhythms and how to hold sticks and mallets. They will be taught proper classical percussion technique on snare drum, mallet instruments, timpani, and auxiliary percussion. Students who wish to audition for the drum line for intermediate, advanced, or high school band, must have taken this course to qualify for an audition slot. Percussion students will be required to perform at the band concerts at the end of their corresponding semester.
